Protecting KS Children from Sexual Predators
Kim Bergand and Tess Ramirez are two of the co-organizers of Protecting KS Children From Sexual Predators.  The group works to educate the public about the prevalence of child sexual abuse in our communities and advocates for laws that will better protect children and support survivors of abuse.
Kim Bergman is a social worker with experience working in child welfare and advocacy.  She earned her Masters Degree of Social Work at UMKC and Bachelors of Social Work at KU.  Kim is a survivor of child sexual abuse.  She is passionate about using her voice to advocate for change that will support survivors and help protect future children from being abused.  Kim has lobbied for laws that will protect children at both the State and National level. Kim is a member of the national RAINN speakers bureau and is a volunteer speaker for local events in the Kansas City area

Tess Ramirez is a Topeka attorney with a passion for advocacy. She is a mother of three, veteran, and survivor of child sexual abuse. Tess earned both a business degree and an MBA at Baker University; completing each with a 4.0 GPA. She also graduated in the top 10 of her class at Washburn Law. Since graduating, Tess has practiced personal injury law, supervised a debt resolution program, and lobbied for laws that will protect Kansas children from sexual abuse.
