We are looking for persons willing to help us support women leaving incarceration. By volunteering as a Mentor you will provide a supportive relationship for a woman incarcerated at the Shawnee County Adult Detention Center and after release into the community.
Commitment is meeting your mentee once per week either in-person, via phone, or via email.
Your goals as a mentor are to:
- Build a connection with a participant
- Assist in goal setting, planning for release from incarceration
- Connect participant to community resources
- Guide participants through the Intersection to Care program and reintegration
- Provide encouragement and nonjudgmental listening
- Provide ongoing emotional support
