The Crisis Center
Kathy Ray serves as the Executive Director of The Crisis Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization providing 24/7 advocacy and support to victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence across five counties in the Flint Hills region of Kansas, and administers SafeLine Kansas, the statewide 24/7 helpline for sexual and domestic violence.
Kathy has dedicated more than 25 years to victim services, beginning her career at The Crisis Center, Inc. after graduating from Kansas State University. Before returning as Executive Director in 2021, she served for 15 years at the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, where she helped develop policies and best practices addressing sexual and domestic violence across Kansas.
Throughout her career, Kathy has provided training and presentations to professionals and communities across Kansas and nationally on effective responses to and the prevention of sexual and domestic violence. She has also served on numerous state and national committees, advisory boards, and task forces and has extensive experience in the leadership and administration of non-profit victim service organizations.
In April 2026, Kathy was awarded the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s Visionary Voice Award for Kansas, which recognizes individuals whose work demonstrates outstanding leadership and commitment to ending sexual violence.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, with minors in Women’s Studies and Business, from Kansas State University, and a Master of Social Work from Washburn University.
Kathy is passionate about strengthening community partnerships and ensuring that victims and survivors and their children have access to safe, compassionate, effective, and coordinated services when they need them most.
